This year Atlanta Youth Lacrosse is proud to announce the first ever Sportsmanship Cup!
This is a game where all players will be chosen for the sportsmanship they displayed during the season by their coaching staff.
It could be the player that is a beginner or the most experienced player. All-Star games are fun, but we as an organization decided to put a little twist on the traditional All-Star game. Selecting players showing incredible sportsmanship throughout the season fits the mission of AYL to provide a league that promotes fun, fundamentals, sportsmanship, and honor.
Following each grade levels Championship Game, that grade level will play the Sportsmanship Game.
Each team at the 3/4th and 5/6th grade level will choose five players from their team:
- (1) Attack
- (1) Midfielder
- (1) Defense
- (2) All-Around Players – Coach Lou will help chose Goalies for the game.
At the end of the game we will give out the coveted Sportsmanship Award and each Sportsmanship participant will receive a T-shirt honoring them for playing.
While many coaches selected players for the Sportsmanship Game themselves, a few teams chose to let the players decide. I am truly excited to watch the inaugural sportsmanship club. We will videotape these games and post highlights so everyone can see a part of the Sportsmanship Game.
