Tomorrow is the big day because its GAME DAY! That’s right, Atlanta Youth Lacrosse’s Fall Ball season gets underway Saturday with U9, U11, and U13 games. With games comes responsibility. RefCam – Braveheart

We finally had great weather for lacrosse games today, and what a great set of games to start us off!

The first two games of the day ended in a Braveheart, which is an overtime alternative. Two players from each team take the field, a goalkeeper and a midfielder. The two middies face off and go one-on-one, full field until one scores. Whoever scores first wins the game for their team.

We got the 9:00am game in today at Sandy Spring Middle School. Then the lightning came. Unfortunately, Georgia’s thunderstorm season sits smack dab in the middle of the Spring Lacrosse Season. While Riverwood and Marist High Schools graciously provide us with turf fields on most weekends, we cannot play when lightning and thunder are nearby. Winter League Saturday Recap

Winter League started this past Saturday December 4th at Riverwood High School. We started at 11:00am with thirteen or so third and fourth graders. Coach Kevin Lux and I ran them through ground ball competitions to see who had the best ground ball skills. Then we ran the always fun Popcorn drill which got all of the players moving the ball, defending, and making good stick checks. After Popcorn we played 6v6 defense versus offense.
