Spring Boys League

Spring is the main season for lacrosse
Boys – Pre K – U9, U11, U13
Practices and games for U9, U11, U13
Pre K K – a Fun 1 hour session

Age grouping for Spring 2013
PreK-K – player must have been born on or after 9/1/2005
U9 – player must have been born on or after 9/1/2003
U11 – player must have been born on or after 9/1/2001
U13 – player must have been born on or after 9/1/1999
U15 – player must have been born on or after 9/1/1997
A copy of the players birth certificate or passport is required

US Lacrosse Membership Required
Before you register your player with Atlanta Youth  Lacrosse, you will need to register your child with US lacrosse or make
sure you check the expiration date of your player’s US Lacrosse membership at www.uslacrosse.org.

It is required that each player have a US Lacrosse membership that is current for the season they will be participating in.Parents are responsible for a current membership number and validation in order to complete the AYL registration process.  This membership provides the league with insurance for the team and requires 100% membership participation;

Season Dates
Practices will begin in February – Mon – Fri
Games will begin in March—–Saturday or Sunday Games (primarily Saturdays)—-Season will end May 5th.

Spring Season Overview

 

  • What is it?
    • The AYL Spring Season  is our main competitive season for boys grades PreK – u13.
      Scores are recorded for playoff seeding. This season ends with a champion team in U11 & U13
    • PreK – 1st grade also play in the Spring, but the game scores are not recorded as the primary purpose of this age group is developing the necessary skills to play at the next level.
  • Where are the games and practices?
    • Games will be played at Riverwood, Marist ,Hammond Park or another local field on either Saturday or Sunday.
    • U9 practice one day a week – Hammond Park, High Point or another local field
    • U11 & U13  practice 2 days a week – Hammond Park , High Point or another local field Directions Page.
  • When are games and practices?
    • All games are played on either Saturday or Sunday.
    • Pre K – U9 start first at 8:30 or 9:00am – U11 games next – U13 last games
    • Practices are Monday through Friday.
      Pre k does not practice they only meet on the weekend same format as the fall league.
  • What is the format for games?
    • Games are 20-22 minute running time games with a five (5) minute halftime. Generally, all games run for a total of 45-50 minutes.
  • Who plays a championship game?
               Only U11 & U13 will play for a season ending championship game
  • What is the sportsmanship game? 
      Coaches and teammates will chose 4-6 players from their team at the end of the season who exemplify Sportsmanship.  This is our most honored award. Chosen players will play in a sportsmanship all star game at the end of the season. The award is not based on skill, goals, abilities etc.
  • Who are the coaches?
    • The majority of our coaches are volunteer parents. Some are former experienced players who have played at Division I, II or III schools, others are new to lacrosse. We appreciate our coaches for volunteering their time and talent who help teach our players lacrosse and life skills.
