Fall Season Overview
- What is the boys fall season?
- The AYL Fall Season is our semi-competitive off-season for boys grades U9- High School. This season ends with a champion team in U11 and U13, this is not determined by the teams win/loss record during the season as that does not count. The winning fall league team is determined by various FUN end of season ideas.
- U15 and High School, while teams play for the Fall Ball championship, the primary focus of this season is skill development, and preparation for the competitive spring season. In other words, we keep things light during the fall.
- U9 – U11 grade also play in the Fall, but the game scores are not recorded as the primary purpose of this age group is developing the necessary skills to play at the next level.
- The Fall Season is games only, no practices. Although we do not have set practices for each team during Fall Ball, we will offer various clinics throughout the fall.
- Where are the games ?
- Games are played primarily at Riverwood High School, Hammond Park or another local field
- When are games and practices?
- All games are played on Saturday or Sunday.
- There are no scheduled practices for any Fall Season Teams. However, we do offer various beginner/intermediate lessons during the week. The dates/times, and registration information for these mini-camps we will emailed before the Fall Season begins.
- What is the format of the games?
- Games are 20-22 minute running time games with a five (5) minute halftime. Generally, all games run for a total of 45-50 minutes.
- Anytime there is a change in format, or a rules change, we notify coaches first and remind players of the most important rules before each game.
- Who are the coaches?
- The majority of our coaches are volunteer parents, many of whom have coached for us for at least three years. The remaining coaches are new volunteer parents, and AYL Staff. In the event that a team gets a new coach, we pair that coach with an experienced AYL Staff Coach who will help familiarize that individual with the basics of lacrosse.U9 htrough U13 will have volunteer coaches.
- U15 and High School teams can choose to manage themselves or have an AYL Staff coach oversee the team. These players are capable of running their own substitutions, and managing their team sideline. An AYL Staff member is always present in the box to help players learn how to run things themselves. The idea is to make these players aware of their own individual abilities in preparation for more intense starting roles on their schools JV or Varsity teams.
